The “value to others” concept holds the “secret to a successful and fulfilling life”. It is one of the most fundamental principles of self-worth and it has nothing to do with money.
Why is adding value to others so important?
Well, adding value is the only way to get another person’s buy-in, and it’s one of the few ways to get other people to believe in you as an individual.
When you’re adding value to someone’s life, you are contributing to that person in a meaningful way. This is important in all facets of life—in friendships, while meeting and connecting with new people, at your job, and with your family.
Unless an individual can identify how they can be of maximum value to other people they will never enjoy sustainable success or maximise their rewards.
Most people, on hearing this for the first time find it a difficult concept to understand.
The words “value to others” has a different meaning to different people.
To most people however the meaning of “Value to Others” is linked to “hard work”. This is not necessarily so and although working harder does bring additional rewards, there is a limit, as the hours worked does not always relate to adding value. If you are already working a 60 hour week, can you do double? What if you wanted to be 20 times more successful than you are today and get 20 times the rewards, can you work 20 times harder?
